This month I've found out The Velveteen Rabbit is back in print.  One of my favourite books for children (of any age!) I have to highlight it as the book of the month.  At the same time I've included a few other inspiring and beautiful kid's books that no childhood should be without.

The Velveteen Rabbit: Classic Edition €13.50
Or, How Toys Become Real
Margery Williams, Don Daily (Ill)
`Real isn`t how you are made,` said the Skin Horse. `It`s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with but really loves you, then you become Real.`

Generations of adults and children have embraced the enchanting story of how love changes a child`s favourite toy into a living, breathing, real-life rabbit.

With warm and charming illustrations by Don Daily, this edition introduces a new generation of readers to Margery Williams`s magical tale and reminds us all what it truly means to be Real.

This is one of the most beautiful books I`ve ever read.

About the Authors

Margery Williams was born in London on July 22, 1881. She first visited America in 1890 and completed her schooling in Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania, in 1896. In 1904 she married Francesco Bianco, a rare book dealer.

Her other books for children include Poor Cecco; The Little Wooden Doll, illustrated by her daughter Pamela; The Apple Tree; The Skin Horse; The House That Grew Smaller; and The Hurdy-Gurdy Man.

Don Daily (1940-2002) was one of the most esteemed illustrators of books for young readers. He illustrated young reader`s editions of The Wind in the Willows, The Jungle Book, The Classic Tales of Brer Rabbit and The Nutcracker.

An alumnus of the Art Center college of Design in Los Angeles, Daily was an honoured member of the Society of Illustrators.

The trees reach for heaven, streams and rivers flow and chuckle, birds sing - everything in the world has its own prayer. Then one day, Granddad is gone. Now, more than ever, the boy needs to hear the prayers of the earth, and to find the words to make his own prayers. Will the world ever seem just right again?

A wonderfully uplifting & inspiring story of a young boy`s discovery of how to become in touch with himself & the wonder of the world around him. Through his Granddad`s spiritual awareness, the boy learns about the nature of prayer - of becoming quiet in order to celebrate life.
