This useful and interesting website analyses the ingredients in 65,000 cosmetics, toiletries and other household consumables and rates them on a scale of 1 to 10 (where 10 identifies products with the greatest number of hazards). The Skin Deep project was launched in 2004 to help people to find safer products with fewer ingredients that are hazardous, or which haven't yet been fully tested. The user simply enters the brand name of the product they are interested in finding out about, and click on search to display Skin Deep's score. If the product isn't listed, it is possible to enter the ingredients listed on the product and get a score based on the ingredients. The site has a very comprehensive FAQ section.
